VISTA - THE RUINS EP
VISTA have created a trilogy of EPs, the first of which is now available titled The Ruins, accompanied by a Youtube documentary. Beginning with what we can describe as a cinematic opening, the title track gives an insight to what is to come throughout.
With synths incorporated, the song leads directly into the next track, ‘After Death’, which greets us with strong vocals and a powerful chorus. A variety of different elements paired with both sets of vocals creates something almost magical.
One of our favourites on the EP, ‘I Don’t Need Help’, features artist Okan Kazdal, and opens strongly, to then break down into a softer sound. Okan’s feature in this track adds so much to the track and to the build up into the ending.
Adding a simpler ending to the EP, ‘Novocaine’ offers synthetic sounds and vocals. This song is calming musically, and ends with the listener wanting more, which makes us all the more excited to hear the second and third parts of this trilogy.
VISTA have the ability to make enjoyable and versatile songs, however listeners can be left disappointed at times, with certain songs almost offering the promise of something more, only to be left behind. We’re left to hope that parts two and three of the trilogy will tie the collection up perfectly.
