3 DIMENSIONAL TOUR - BALTIMORE 10.12.19
“You guys aren’t the biggest crowd of the tour, but you’re REALLY loud”. - This is what one of the New Politics guys had to say the other night as their “3 Dimensional Tour” with Plain White T’s and The Mowgli’s hit Baltimore. It was a rainy Tuesday night, but the small crowd that did make it to the show did not leave disappointed.
THE MOWGLI’S
The show began with The Mowgli’s, an alternative rock band from Los Angeles. I wasn’t too familiar with their music, but they put on a great show that got the crowd to dance around. Before going into one of their last songs of the set, “I’m Good”, lead singer Katie Earl had an inspirational message for the crowd: “We believe that every single person in this room has the power to change the world”.
PLAIN WHITE T’S
Next up was Plain White T’s. They weren’t afraid to poke fun at themselves, as the most chill music of the night, noting at one point “New Politics are gonna rock your socks off, but us? We’re just gonna sway” and joking before almost every song things like “So this is another song about love”. They played the old hits like ‘1,2,3,4’ and of course, ‘Hey There, Delilah’, along with newer music from their 2019 album Parallel Universe. Despite the slower-tempo, they put on a great show, and it definitely got people swaying and singing along.
NEW POLITICS
Lastly was New Politics, and they came out ready to rock. They had technical issues during their intro causing them to stop and restart it, but it didn’t slow them down for long. Frontman David Boyd was absolutely wild to watch with the way he ran around the stage. His antics added a layer to the show that made me say “WOW, New Politics are SO much fun”. At one point, he hopped out into the crowd and got everyone to drop down to the ground before jumping. And to end the show, he did a backflip off the drums. It was quite the performance and definitely ended the night on a high note.
Overall, the night was a lot of fun, and I would highly suggest seeing any of these three acts the next time they come around if you have the chance!
