SUPERLOVE – SUPERLOVE EP
Bristol trio, Superlove bring us some light towards the end of a dark tunnel with their brand new self-titled EP. Having shared stages with other pop-punk and emo bands such as Dream State, Stand Atlantic and Vukovi, the boys have already brought together a dedicated fanbase with just a handful of singles and it’s clear the EP is heavily anticipated. Singer Jacob Rice explains, ‘We finished recording the songs over a year ago so it honestly feels good to finally say it's coming out.’
Darting from harmonised vocals, to dreamy synths to heavy guitar riffs, Superlove are no amateurs when it comes to the element of surprise. ‘I Love It’ is a bizarre hybrid of melancholic riffs and an ever-changing dramatic tempo throughout the verses alongside two very different vocal styles with some spoken word thrown into the mix too.
‘Life Is Great’ takes a backseat from the chaos and moves into feel-good, uplifting pop sounds similar to the likes of You Me At Six’s Carpe Diem. Meanwhile ‘THINK ABT U’ is the grungiest and fastest track on the EP. With so much going on across the EP, no track is the same.
“We’ve always wanted to keep things as diverse as we can in order to keep it interesting for ourselves and our audience. We’re so proud of these songs and what they represent to us. We hope they can bring a lot of positivity into peoples’ lives and provide some sort of escapism for people who need it right now.”
Superlove has huge personality packed into just 5 tracks. Dabbling into various styles throughout every verse and chorus, each track is textured and exciting. Superlove have come on leaps and bounds with their music over the past couple of years and will continue to make their mark. It’s clear that they are passionate and refuse to let anything get in the way of climbing higher.
