Whilst celebrating their 20 year anniversary as a band, Silverstein release their latest full length album, A Beautiful Place to Drown.

In Celebrating their twenty years as a band, Silverstein have teamed up with the likes of Beartooth’s Caleb Shomo and Underoath’s Aaron Gillespie on their newest album, A Beautiful Place to Drown. The Ontario based band are set to tour heavily this year, bringing on a fully stripped acoustic set of their first full-length When Broken Is Easily Fixed.

The new album is said to be one to appeal to fans young and old, and opens with ‘Bad Habits’ featuring Intervals. Guitarist Paul Marc Rousseau explained how the track “takes place in that silver of daylight and between recognition and regret.” Being one of the lead singles for the album, this track has already become a fan favorite, with the mix of vocals and adrenaline-pushed instrumentals, it’s hard for this one to not be on repeat.

‘Infinite’ is the fourth track and includes powerful buildups into the chorus, paired with Underoath’s Aaron Gillespie makes the track easily appeal to fans of both bands.

‘Shape Shift’ provides a softer tone compared to the rest of the album, as if it’s the calm before the storm. The song tells the story of someone who is a frequent liar and pretends to be someone else, and ends with the slowing of the guitar, and repeating the line “I never stood a chance here, did I? // You got me in a trance with another line.”

On a similar note, ‘All On Me’ opens in a soft tone with vocal effects and saxophone added to make this song stand out on the album. It doesn’t sound like your typical Silverstein sound, but it’s certainly catchy.

‘Madness’ featuring Princess Nokia goes back to the harder tones that the band is known for. Princess Nokia’s feature appears right before the breakdown, and her voice is perfectly matched with the instrumentals to create a great break in the song.

The last track, ‘Take What you Give’ features Pierre Bouvier of Simple Plan. The track is a great way to wrap up the record, and is a song that makes you reminisce, which is perfect for a record that’s being released 20 years after starting a band.

This record is an amazing listen all the way through, and with Silverstein’s ever-changing sound, it’s no wonder they’ve been able to make it this long as a band.
