Composer, singer-songwriter and producer, Sans Soucis is set to release her sophomore EP, Unfinished, tomorrow. Her debut EP release last year received huge amounts of support and has gained the attention of Earmilk, The Independent, BBC introducing and Amazing Radio who have also been showing some love to the last track on the new EP, ‘Make One From A Two’, a slow but moving track with emotional lyrics carried by with piano melodies and strings.

Unfinished as a whole builds on influences from the likes of Lou Reed and classical compositions from Mancini. It is bursting with soothing harmonies and airy vocals paired with jazz leads and Soucis uses these to create a moment of tranquillity throughout the three tracks. The first track, which the EP is named after, talks about the attachment we have to life despite its elusiveness through an eerie array of clean guitar and strings.

The concept for the EP as a whole explores the ‘...freedom to be, by choosing to radically accept who we are. Freedom of expression, unlocking, gender, celebrating the individual and our ability to nurture endless versions of ourselves.’ ‘Red’ explores this through layered harmonised vocals and no instrumentation, almost in an acapella style, talking about marrying oneself, art and music, challenging your thoughts to focus solely on what the lyrics are talking about.

Unfinished places us in a moment of stillness and peace, taking the time to learn how to self-love through art and music, something which is hugely important in a society where we compare ourselves and compete with each other. We could all do with a time out to recollect ourselves and celebrate diversity within humans and this is the perfect EP to do that with.
