Dead Posey, made up of Tony F (formally of Eve 6) and Danyell Souza have released their second EP, Malfunction. Following on from their debut EP, Freak Show, the duo have created a whole new world from the darkest parts of their minds.

Being heavily influenced by acts ranging from Rammstein to Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, the EP has strong evidence of both sounds, showcasing many elements of the classic rock legends that people have grown up around and enjoy.

The opening track, ‘Head of the Snake’ starts with a strong guitar riff and strong female vocals. When the chorus hits, it’s easy for it to get stuck in one’s head after hearing it, due to the catchy and strong powerful instrumentals accompanied with the vocals.

Following on from this, ‘Parasite’ sounds like a song one would hear on an alternative radio station on a late night drive. Such a song that one may have never heard, but they hear it for that first time and get hooked. The chorus in this one as well is one that will get stuck in the heads of the listeners for time to come.

‘Bad Things’ starts out more eerie with the sound of windchimes. When the vocals begin, the male vocals accompanied with that of the female help together to create the same feeling, and include a bridge to lead into a chorus slower than the rest seen in this release, but just as powerful.

The last track, ‘Holy Roller’ brings back the strong guitars, and in this track the Joan Jett inspiration is very easy to find. Another strong chorus by the duo make this track an absolutely amazing ending to their release.

Overall the EP is one listeners of many different genres can come to enjoy. The music fits with both the classic rock era, as well as the ever-changing era of today’s music. Mixing strong instrumentals with strong voices that pair so well together help to make this collection of songs one to look back on regularly.
