Following on from their successful debut record, Wallows are back with their quarantine-made EP, Remote, offering a sort of bliss that creates the perfect soundtrack to all the changes we’ve experienced this year.
The new EP from Wallows, Remote, has been one of the better things to come out of 2020. The entire EP combines pop music with indie synths that brings the Wallows unique sound to life. The entire 6-track record offers a sort of bliss that creates the perfect soundtrack to all the changes we’ve experienced this year.
It opens with ‘Virtual Aerobics’, an upbeat song that starts the EP off on a high note. After that, Wallows gets a lot deeper with their lyrics. In ‘Dig what you Dug’, they get more serious lyrically while keeping the same tune sonically. This is immediately followed by ‘Nobody Gets me (Like You)’ in which it sounds like they’re expressing their deep emotions to a loved one. We’re only halfway through the EP, and the band has already taken us on a wild, but pretty fun, ride.
The second half of the EP is similar with the ups and downs of emotive lyrics, and the consistent intertwining of upbeat pop melodies and electronic beats. Furthermore, each song flows perfectly into the next, making you feel like you just took a flawless ride inside someone’s head.
Overall, this EP is more than just a listening experience, but an emotional one as well.
