THE DEAD FREIGHTS - SUFFERIN' SAFARI
The Dead Freights are coming at us again with another single, the third out of four recorded during lockdown, ‘Sufferin’ Safari’. The title is described as a ‘devilish twist’ on The Beach Boys’ ‘Surfin’ Safari’, which rings true to the bands nature.
Freights have an almost rebellious feel about them, making the listener embrace the attitude that they emit, “Now I’m fucked, gutted / And for what? Nothing”. The instrumentals are nothing too experimental, with a steady, blunt drum beat behind your classic rock raspy guitar sounds, but this in combination with slick lyricism makes for a well balanced tune. “All my bad dreams make sense / But the wet ones don’t” brings some humour to the song, as well as a pretty personal feel in a not so conventional way.
With another single looming right behind this one, you’d be right in thinking they’re on track to making an album. Recordings are currently underway and their latest releases give an interesting and exciting insight into how the album’s going to sound, although a release date is yet to be confirmed.
