QUIET BLUE - BEFORE DAWN

Before Dawn is the perfect EP to wind down to during those sleepless nights and all of the late night wonders and questions that come with them.

Quiet Blue is the solo project from Melbourne based singer/songwriter Nic Georgiou. Drawing on influences from the likes of Bon Iver and Sufjan Stevens, Georgiou creates obscure yet tranquil soundscapes paired with thought provoking lyrics.

Before Dawn explores the conflicting relationship Georgiou has with the night. ‘I’ve always had an intense relationship with this time not just in relation to my music; since as far back as I can remember late nights alone have been really the only time I have been able to have those serious thoughts about life, love and meaning.’ But the night is not without its problems, like insomnia and nightmares.

The EP starts with an ambient beat and angelic vocals in ‘Come Into The Water (M5)’ and soon picks up the pace over the next couple of tracks mirroring sounds from the likes of Bombay Bicycle Club and Swim Deep.

‘Are We on A One Way Train (M3)’ begins with a soft hum of an organ that introduces the track and drones on in the background as a beautiful piano melody unfolds. Ending the EP on a rather sad note, it captures the heartbreak of questioning where a love interest is going and the possibility of it coming to an end.

Before Dawn is the perfect EP to wind down to during those sleepless nights and all of the late night wonders and questions that come with them. It acts as a light in the dark when you’re particularly lonely or vulnerable during those hours.
