Released via Wiretap Records, Primary Colours was recorded in sunny LA and the warmth translates. With tracks worth of inclusion on the iconic The O.C. soundtrack of indie rock belters, LOVEBREAKERS deliver indie waves with punk surfers dropping in and riding the swells until the calming break. That’s all thanks to the legendary Davey Warsop (Green Day, Foo Fighters) maintaining a punchy production.

Breaking through with bangers, ‘Eye Roller’ and ‘Set In Gold’, LOVEBREAKERS ensure the repeat button is smashed with their palm mute to swirling hooks transitions, rolls of reverb and beats hitting hard enough to give you whiplash.

LOVEBREAKERS have really found their unique niche in the indie, punk mince that has a dash of rockabilly and a clove of barn blues, but Primary Colours sounds familiar and comforting all the same. Perhaps it’s the Tom Delonge/Joe Strummer cross vocals that resonates. Maybe it’s the easy sing-along nature of their tracks. Look no further than ‘Family Man’ and ‘Laura’ for those catchy fist-pumping choruses. “I am the beast and you are the beauty / our loves like playing in a scene from a vintage movie” - a hook, line and sinker lyric built for stadium shows. Whilst Primary Colours boasts numerous anthems, ‘Laura’ takes the cake as the standout. Reminiscent of The 1975, this track is set to go-off live!

Or maybe it’s the fact that Primary Colours induces a craving for summertime music festivals and the nostalgia of sunburnt, sweaty times. ‘Horizons’ sums this up perfectly with hyper-chorus ‘I want my 20’s to last forever / wear my skinny jeans / be like the Libertines’; the aim of every 30’s approaching kids at heart.

After a whopping nine belter tracks, title track ‘Primary Colours’ closes out the debut in high regard. Yet another anthemic piece, ‘Primary Colours’ has a level of cheekiness to it with the fun trumpet components and boppier undertones. A fitting end to an enjoyable collection that showcases LOVEBREAKERS as a breakthrough band.

LOVEBREAKERS have pulled together an ambitious debut album, holding a consistency and flow beyond their years as an emerging band. Whilst dabbling into multiple genres, they mesh each element together seamlessly to create a sound uniquely theirs. Looking forward to seeing where LOVEBREAKERS head.
