HOLY FAWN - DIMENSIONAL BLEED
Holy Fawn has given us another killer album that is what I can only describe as an out of body experience. Holy Fawn has set the bar incredibly high with their previous albums Death Spells and Realms, and they’ve managed to surpass that while giving us something completely different but still somehow staying true to themselves.
Holy Fawn’s new album Dimensional Bleed is more subtle and softer than their previous albums, and feels much more cathartic. It is 50 minutes of Hazy dreamy vocals, lush tones, and classic Holy Fawn black metal style screams from vocalist Ryan Osterman. Holy Fawn took a different approach and built their album on samples and electronic elements, which are still supported by their incredible instrumentation and explosive vocals.
Within Dimensional Bleed’s 10 tracks there isn’t anything that will disappoint you. The band carries its listeners on a sparkling wave of shimmering guitars, powerful drumming and palpitating bass. Osterman has spoken about dealing with depression as part of his creative process and through the course of the album you will find yourself being hit with the waves of emotion that come to life with these tracks.
We have tracks like that are tranquil, and ambient like the opener ‘Hexsewn’ that has hushed, soothing vocals which promote a sense of mourning. This continues from track to track. We also have some of the most aggressive vocals that the band has produced to date on tracks like ‘Sightless’. Some of the tracks are so close to being blackgaze, with an overwhelming release of emotion inscribed in them.
The emotion, power and complexity that runs through their albums is truly something that continues to impress. Holy Fawn is truly a unique and talented band and Dimensional Bleed is an incredible album that deserves so much love and attention. Dimensional Bleed is set to be released on September 9, 2022, make sure to check it out on Spotify!
Holy Fawn is currently on an East Coast tour with Astronoids and will be embarking on a UK tour with The Hyena Kill and lastly, a West Coast tour with SOM and Grivo. Tickets are available here.
