DECO - REAL LIFE EP
Deco are an indie-pop duo birthed from London’s grassroots scene in which they have built a strong, die-hard fan base. From supporting the likes of Jess Glynne and more, Deco are ready to give their fans more and share their latest EP, Real Life. Drawing on influences including Duran Duran and George Michael, the EP is packed with disco, synth-pop influences.
The EP begins with ‘I Don’t Wanna Go Out’, a socially anxious anthem for those of us who struggle with the social pressures to go on nights out at weekends and fitting in. The dancey, 80’s disco melodies sweep you off your feet and celebratory lyrics I don’t want to go out tonight / I just wanna feel right” highlights the importance of self-care and not forcing yourself into uncomfortable situations.
‘Real Life’, that names the EP, is a track about the realisation that online aids such as dating apps and the internet as a whole are not a patch on how we experience the world through our own eyes and senses and the fear that we have become too reliant on technological aids, as useful as they may be at times.
Real Life is a really exciting and energetic EP, throwing us back to cheesy 80s riffs with modern production and mixing, it’s enough to power you through an afternoon of boring work at home or just as a general pick-me-up during this unsettling time. Deco are donating all profits from the EP to Homeless Link through iTunes and adds “....we want to do our bit to ensure that the charities supporting homeless people in these challenging circumstances have the tools and resources they need to continue to carry out their exceptional work.” What more could you want from an artist?
