CIRCA SURVIVE - A DREAM ABOUT LOVE EP
Circa Survive’s A Dream About Love transports you into an ethereal atmospheric dreamscape that is much different than what we’re used to hearing from Circa Survive. While the album has a softer side, there are still hints of classic Circa Survive, making the album a beautiful transition between the band that we all know and love and what could possibly be a new era.
The EP is beautifully constructed, carrying tracks that Anthony Green says are about forgiveness, accountability, and representing the sense of starting over. The first track ‘Imposter’ was the last song that Green wrote before going to rehab, and it truly does feel like the Circa Survive is departing from their trademark sound, and starting to push their boundaries to create a beautiful landscape of emotion and cathartic soundscapes.
The second half of the album starting with ‘Even Better’ is especially dreamy, dark, glowy and oddly soothing. We’re enveloped by Green’s voice, that continues to lull us to a peaceful state of being as the album works itself through an acoustic ‘Gone For Good’, a song that seems to be about someone who’s dwelling over a failed relationship, and finally surrendering. Wrapping the album with ‘Sleep Well’, a track about a lost loved one, being unable to love again, and meeting them “soon enough”. A melancholic ending to Circa Survive’s moody release A Dream About Love leaves you feeling a little shaken.
A Dream About Love is out now. Circa Survive will also embark on their belated 10 year anniversary tour for Blue Sky Noise, along with Tigers Jaw and Slo Glow in January 2022.
