BLOODBATHER - SILENCE EP
Florida duo, Bloodbather give us a taste of what’s to come next in their career with their latest EP, Silence. The EP features two singles released earlier in the year and a handful of other new material.
Bloodbather have already established a strong name for themselves after the success of their debut album Pressure and sharing festival stages with the likes of Of Mice & Men and Whitechapel. Having only formed a couple of years back, nothing has stopped Bloodbather from being one to watch, as demonstrated in Revolver’s feature: ‘Artists You Need To Know’.
Brimming with course, industrial riffs accompanied by Kyler Millo’s growl and mumble hybrid, starting track ‘God’ is quick to fire up the EP. After some eerie synths and thunderous double bass drums, Millo’s vocals scream into the void and bring the track to life. Expressing the frustration of being disrespected and putting so much effort into someone that does not appreciate it is well and truly exhausted.
Title track ‘Silence’ is far from quiet. Repetitive screams of “Why?” and “You took so much from me” ripple through the track like an earthquake. You can hear Millo’s passion and fury with trying to fight back against oppression.
Millo discusses what the EP is about as a whole. “...is about being manipulated for a long time and realizing it, but not really having the power to retaliate at the time, which then pressures you to become stronger to overcome this oppressive figure.’
Silence is a very technically impressive EP. Many heavier metalcore bands often end up either drowning out their vocals with the music. This is not the case here; you can hear all of the instruments fit together seamlessly. The energy and passion involved with the delivery of the lyrics is authentic and professional. It’s inevitable that Bloodbather will soon be on the right road to even greater things.
