BEARINGS - THE BEST PART ABOUT BEING HUMAN

Credit: Pure Noise Records

Bearings recently released their third full-length album, The Best Part of Being Human. Bearings has been a band that has evolved with each release and gone with the flow trying to find their sound. Perhaps this is finally the album where they’ve discovered who they are as a band, defining themselves and stand out from other pop-punk bands who seem to all blend together.

The Best Part of Being Human gives major summer vibes, the vibes you get driving down HWY 1, with the top down, as the sun sets over the oceans. That carefree rush you get as you cruise down the coast is the same feeling you get from this album. The album is so full of feelings, it makes you feel like you’re going to burst from pure euphoria.

From the start, ‘Scenery’ opens the album with a bouncy and peppy beat, it energetically sets the tone for the whole album. The driving energy of the opener is matched by ‘Don’t Want To Forget About It’, the groovy bounce continues through with the next song ‘Gone So Gone’, the fun just continues and the band knows who their audience is, the pop-punk kid who’s looking for the high school nostalgia.

The album continues with smooth vocals, drumbeats that make you want to dance and lyrics that will cause you to sing a long, and get stuck in the back of your mind. The saxophone solo that seems slightly out of nowhere during ‘Ocean Dream’ actually blends in perfectly with the vibe of the album. These tracks are infectious, right down to the last track.

The Best Part of Being Human is a punchy compilation from the beginning and does not let down through the 10 tracks, which means Bearings was able to deliver the perfect summer experience. The album is inviting and soothing, again, while it is not necessarily the album for me, Bearings knew how to deliver the perfect summer anthems for their fans.
