BAD BUNNY: SAN JOSE, CA - 04.03.22

Right now, Bad Bunny may quite possibly be the biggest artist in the world. He’s been Spotify’s Artist of The Year two years running, and he’s working his way to claiming the title a third consecutive year. In 2020, he released YHLQMDLG, right before the pandemic, and he blessed his fans with not one, but TWO more albums that same year. Due to the pandemic, there weren’t any supporting tours for any of those albums. So, you can only imagine how excited his fans are to finally see him on the Ultimo Tour Del Mundo Tour which supports those albums. And well, let me tell you, they were excited for all the right reasons, because Bad Bunny did not disappoint us after the long wait.

The SAP Center came alive with the sound of fans laughing and singing along to the loud reggaeton music that DJ played as they all waited for Bad Bunny. Suddenly, the music paused, the Shark Tank’s lights dimmed, and the crowd of 18,000 people silently waited to see what was going to happen next. The curtain was pulled to expose a large Semi Truck that started to slowly inch its way towards the center of the SAP Center. El Mundo Es Mio starts to play while flames erupt from the back of the Semi, and Bad Bunny took a moment to sink into what felt like a fever dream before he began to perform. He bounced around the stage giving his attention to every side of the sold out arena while going through each song with the help of pyrotechnics, lazers, smoke and 8 hanging LED screens, his performance brought the SAP Center to life.

During ‘Te Mudastes’ and ‘Yo Visto Asi’ a live band accompanied Bad Bunny on the floor, and they even made their way up on the stage to perform alongside him. As we moved through the album, a group of dancers emerged from the tunnel and joined him on stage during ‘Sorry Papi’ and ‘La Noche De Anoche’, bringing the songs to life with their amazing dance moves, which at times incorporated Bad Bunny. Finally, we’ve come to the end of the album, during ‘Te Deseo Lo Mejor’ he let the crowd take over, the energy this man brings to his fan’s is incredible. A sea of flashing pink lights from the bracelets that were provided made the arena glow. Bad Bunny thanked his fans and walked off stage.

The hanging LED screens displayed videos from YHLQMDLG, and moments later ‘Si Veo a Tu Mama’ signaled the return of Bad Bunny, the crowd screamed back every word. The dancers returned on stage with Bad Bunny, grinding on him during ‘La Dificil’, the crowd continued to scream along to every word. We were even blessed with Mora jumping on stage to perform ‘Una Vez’ with Bad Bunny. The crowd was going wild, this was truly unexpected. The energy from the crowd didn’t falter, even once as we moved through the album, and even singles that had been sprinkled in after the other albums were released like ‘Volvi’, ‘Lo Siento BB:/’ &  ‘Yonaguni’. Bad Bunny began to wrap up the show as he brought out his dancer again for an energetic performance of ‘Yo Perreo Sola’ & ‘Safaera’. but ultimately he ended the night with ‘DAIKITI’. Confetti began to fly through the arena, sparks flew from the stage and smoke cannons went off as Bad Bunny left the stage while the crowd cheered.
