ONES TO WATCH: LIVE AT LEEDS IN THE PARK 2022
MTV MAIN STAGE
LAURAN HIBBERD: 2PM (DYLAN MAGGS)
Lauran Hibberd is an English singer-songwriter who will be opening the MTV Main Stage with her incredible high-energy stage presence, whilst providing amazing alt/indie tunes that you won't be able to stop yourself from dancing to. After watching Lauran play live on 3 different occasions, I recommend getting there early to catch her set.
SPORTS TEAM: 5PM (DYLAN MAGGS)
The English alternative rock band from London will also be playing on the MTV Main Stage, and with a new exciting album on the way (titled ‘Gulp!’) they’ll be sure to blow people away with their incredibly energetic set that will have the crowd jumping all the way through.
THE VACCINES: 7:45pm (JEN ROSE)
Following the release of Back In Love City and Planet of the Youth, indie heavyweights The Vaccines are gearing up to perform at Live at Leeds. Pulling influences from a variety of genres, the band provides fans with catchy indie-rock hooks with nostalgic undertones. They’ve earned a reputation as indie-rock darlings and are definitely a band not to miss!
DIY BIG TOP
THE LOUNGE SOCIETY: 1:30pm (DAVID BARTER)
The Lounge Society are a great alternative band that’ll kick the start of summer off in awesome fashion as they appear on this year’s DIY Big Top. With Silk For The Starving announcing their potential as a group, this appearance at Live at Leeds In The Park will likely tease more of the much anticipated debut album Tired of Liberty due for release at the end of Summer.
CASSIA: 2:15pm GOVBALLNYC STAGE (JEN ROSE)
Getting their start from Replica, Macclesfield natives Cassia bring a taste of the tropics to any climate. With woozy, sunshine soaked instrumentals and captivating vocals, they are guaranteed to bring a sense of fun to the proceedings..even if the sunshine isn’t guaranteed!
EASY LIFE: 8:30pm (DYLAN MAGGS)
Headlining the DIY Big Top stage is English alt/indie group Easy Life, a well-known band that I’m sure needs no explanation. With a new album on the way (titled ‘Maybe In Another Life’), the fan favorites will with no doubt put on an incredible performance. It will be my first time seeing Easy Life perform so I am very much looking forward to their set.
HILL TOP STAGE
THE ROYSTOM CLUB: 1:30pm (DAN TSOUREKAS)
Wrexham based indie band The Royston Club have recently been making waves in the genre. With over a million streams on Spotify and over 100.000 monthly listeners, their growth has been rapid. Soon to play NBHD Festival, and currently playing sold out shows across the UK, this is an act you don’t want to miss.
STONE: 3:30pm (DAN TSOUREKAS)
Merseyside four-piece STONE provide a refreshing sound of spoken word accompanied by punk aesthetics and riffs. Starting in 2019, the band have since gone on to play Reading & Leeds, supported Yungblud on his UK tour, and recently completed their own headline tour. Remember the name, as STONE are set for greatness.
THE BLINDERS: 4:30pm (DAVID BARTER)
Breaking into the scene with their debut album Colombia, The Blinders have since continued to release iconic work including their newest two part EP Electric Kool-Aid. Coupled with their lively and ensnaring stage presence, they are definitely not one to miss.
TRIBES: 5:30pm (DAVID BARTER)
Continuing on their tour of live shows after a hiatus for several years, Tribes are reminding everyone of how great they are. With their first release in 9 years expected to drop this year, it’s a perfect reason to get excited about them again as this marks what is undoubtedly an exciting return to the stage..
THE SNUTS: 6:45PM (JEN ROSE)
Scottish indie rock band The Snuts have been making steady progress since their 2021 album, W.L. With crowd pleasing hooks and lyrics showcasing their working class roots, they became the first Scottish band to achieve a U.K. number 1 in 14 years. They’re an exciting band making waves in the industry and you should absolutely catch them live.
DORK PRESENTS
L’OBJECTIF: 6:10pm (DAVID BARTER)
Leeds based alternative rock group, L’objectif, showcase local talent as their trippy sound takes to Dork Presents. Releasing an array of singles and EPs, highlight tracks to watch are ‘Burn Me Out’ and ‘Feeling Down’. If you like IDLES or Beach Fossils then be sure to check out this young band making a name for themselves.
ZUZU: 7:20pm (DAN TSOUREKAS)
Liverpool’s own ZUZU has had a busy few months. From releasing her debut album in November 2021, to going on a headline tour a month after, her growth since has been nothing but fascinating, Providing alternative and pop tunes, her performances definitely can be described as heartwarming.
THE MYSTERINES: 8:30pm (DAVID BARTER)
The Mysterines are newly emerging into the limelight after their impressive debut album Reeling. Their emotive take on garage rock makes them sure to be a thrill to watch on stage, as they capture the hearts and minds of Leeds. Fans of Wolf Alice and VUKOVI are sure to love The Mysterines.
