Mark Ronson will be hosting a new 6 part docuseries for Apple TV+ entitled Watch the Sound with Mark Ronson.
This docuseries will be directed and produced by Oscar-winning producer Morgan Neville whereby Mark and a number of guests will investigate and discuss ‘sound creation and the revolutionary technology that has shaped music as we know it’ .
Thus, in each episode, Ronson will learn more about his expertise which is producing. He will aim to find out untold stories of music production over the years and discover how producers/artists strive to find the perfect sound on their records.
Additionally, every episode will include interviews with artists with Paul McCartney, Questlove, King Princess, Dave Grohl, Charli XCX, Ad-Rock and Mike D from the Beastie Boys. At the end of each episode, Ronson will produce a new piece of music that will include techniques such as reverb, autotune, drum machines, sampling and reverb.
This would be an interesting watch considering how many awards and the long list of big names that Ronson has worked with previously. As an audience and music fan it demonstrates how there are many unexplored territories within music production and how even a Grammy winning producer is still willing to learn and explore.
Apple TV + has released successful music documentaries recently in fact, Billie Eilish’s The World’s a Little Blurry has been awarded generally positive reviews. Additionally, Beastie Boys Story, another Apple TV+ documentary, was Grammy nominated and Emmy nominated.
Therefore, it comes as no surprise that there is anticipation circling this new series, set to be released 30th July.
